JOHOR BAHARU, May 24 (Bernama) -- Four armed robbers in two cars blocked a

car that was carrying an undisclosed amount of currencies from a licensed money

changer at Jalan Serampang, Taman Pelangi, here, today.

Johor Baharu Selatan OCPD, ACP Zainuddin Yaacob said during the 2.30pm

incident behind the Utusan Melayu (M) Berhad office here, the suspects who came

in a Proton Waja and Proton Perdana and armed with parang, managed to block the

victim''s car, a Toyota Alphard, and robbed four bags containing currencies.

"The robbers fled in the Proton Waja and left the Proton Perdana behind

while the two victims inside the Toyota Alphard tried to pursue them. However,

their car lost control, skidded and overturned about a kilometre from the

scene," he told reporters.

The suspects then left the Proton Waja and fled in two different cars.

Zainuddin said, the victims suffered minor injuries from the struggle with

the suspects and police are investigating whether they are staff or owners of

the money changing company.

"Initial investigations revealed that the Proton Perdana and Waja were not

stolen and we found tools used for theft in the Proton Waja, including parang,

screwdriver and masks," he said.
