It’s Friday! So let’s find a date on lessworkmorelove.com

The thing about hiding behind those online profiles is that individuals tend to be hyperpersonal, meaning you are able to present yourself in the most strategic and best manner possible. While most dating sites aim to keep users online as long as possible for monetization, Singapore-based lessworkmorelove aims to help singles effectively break the ice, get offline, and go on dates.

And because I’m at the receiving end of nags from my father who thinks I can’t get hitched before I hit 30, I gave the platform a go. After you fill in your particulars, you are required to post a date idea. You will then receive one match at noon daily, where you can choose to ‘like’ or ‘pass’ the idea. If you ‘like’ the idea, you can then take it to the next level, chat privately within the app, and meet up with the other partner. This activity-based approach aims to take the dating experience offline. I mean, after all, face-to-face communication and interaction work better to find out if the date can eventually become your other half for life.

Signing in with Facebook, apart from simplifying the signup process, allows the platform to ensure you’re being matched to real folks out there with real friends and interests. It also filters out your Facebook friends, so you won’t be matched to people whom you already know. But if you really do want to hook up with that eye candy of yours you’ve been stalking for ages, co-founder Kenneth Lim jokes:

If that’s something that tickles your fancy, you could always give bangwithfriends.com a go. We don’t want creeps like you on our site anyway.

Kenneth also revealed that the platform currently boasts more than 2,000 monthly active users hailing from cities such as Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, and Kuala Lumpur, despite only launching earlier this May. Users are between ages 24 to 28, consisting of 42 percent male and 58 percent female. That defies the convention of more males than females. 87 percent of users have at least a bachelors degree, and approximately 100 singles are successfully paired every match day.

Kenneth attributes the reason for more female signups to the Facebook advertisements targeted at females. It hopes to get more females on the platform simply because it’s much easier to get the male audience on board. When asked why matches are being sent at noon instead of other times, Kenneth said that the timing is around lunch hour and would be a good time for busy bees to look forward to, apart from thinking of what to eat for lunch.

Behind this online dating site are also the founders of Startup Arena Singapore 2013 finalist Triibe – Say Jon Wong, Chua Chun Kiat, and Kenneth Lim.

So, looking for a date this weekend? Give lessworkmorelove.com a go.
