KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 (Bernama) -- Electronic Stability Control and Anti-Lock
Brakes are among latest vehicle gadgets displayed at the four-day Automotive
Safety Week 2012 held at the Melaka International Trade Centre starting today.
Organised by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) in
collaboration with Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global-NCAP), the event
gathers specialists and experts on various fields of safety in the world to
identify ways to create awareness among consumers and discuss future solutions
on safety, including formulating policy proposals, that could improve active and
passive safety.
Organising Chairman Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim said the event will be combined
with a seminar, exhibition and educational activities on vehicle safety.
"For the public there are various activities including new car displays,
automotive safety displays, test drive booths and automotive career day," he
said in a statement here.
Khairil said Prince Michael of Kent, Patron of the Commission for Global
Road Safety would be the Guest of Honour to present Global NCAP’s inaugural
Safety Awards.
He said the event would coincide with the inauguration of a new crash test
laboratory, built by MIROS, and also feature a seminar on vehicle safety issues
to the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety of 2011-2020.
