TEMERLOH, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- The body of a man who is believed to have
drowned after jumping into a swamp to escape a police raid yesterday, was found
today.
Temerloh deputy police chief, Supt Zundin Mahmood said the victim, Azis
Suhor, 49, from Kampung Paya Keladan, was found at 10.45am after a search and
rescue operation failed to locate him yesterday.
He said during the 5.45 pm raid, the victim and another 29 men were
engrossed in cockfighting gambling activities at a forested area near the
village and ran away to the swamp when police approached them.
"Most of them jumped into the swamp and surrendered but the suspect was
believed to have drowned," he told reporters here today.
He said all suspects, aged between 30 and 50, had been gambling there every
weekend.
