KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- Police believe that a gambling-related
debt was the motive for the man to be shot at before he was killed in an
accident near a water themepark in Desa Petaling yesterday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said based on the two bullet
shells found at the scene, police also believed that the shooter had used a .38
revolver.
"We have gathered all evidence through the video footage from the
closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) and collected all fingerprints at the
scene," he told a press conference here today.
The self-employed man, known as Wong Ping Yee, 36, died at the scene after
being hit by a car while trying to escape from the shooter at about 9.15pm.
Following inspections on Wong''s Honda Accord car, the police forensic team
also found six gunshot marks on the passenger''s window.
Mohmad said the driver who accidentally hit Wong had also gave his statement
to the police early today and further investigation was being carried out to
ascertain whether the victim was asked to go to the area or was followed by the
shooter from an unknown location.
