General Electric (GE) to Open New Lab in Connecticut

The Industrial Solutions business of General Electric Company (GE) recently announced the opening of its new Advanced Manufacturing Lab (AML.V) in Plainville, CT. General Electric had earlier launched the NPI (New Product Introduction) Accelerator Lab in Plainville in May 2013. This AML is likely to further augment the development of new techniques and processes.

The new lab will employ innovative manufacturing design and development tools by a highly experienced team of professionals, robotics and automated manufacturing systems to support the new GuardEon molded case circuit breaker (:MCCB) platform launch in 2015. At the new lab, General Electric will develop new, innovative manufacturing methods for GuardEon, which will provide advanced safety and reliability features for industrial, original equipment manufacturer (:OEM) and commercial customers.

General Electric’s design, build, test and learn modules along with in-house human and capital resources facilitate faster delivery of quality products for its customers. Additionally, General Electric will build a new Circuit Breaker Center of Excellence (COE.V) in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where GuardEon will be produced, leading to fine tuning of its manufacturing flexibility and product reliability.

General Electric uses FastWorks Methodology to deliver GuardEon MCCB platform significantly faster than the typical industry development time.
