Gianfranco Zola and Roy Keane not in the mix for Sydney FC coaching role

Sydney FC's coaching candidate field appears set to shrink, with two of the biggest names linked to the post reportedly soon off the market.

The Sky Blues announced on Friday that Vitezslav Lavicka would return to his native Czech Republic at the end of the season, bringing to an end what will be a three-year tenure that included the 2009-10 A-League double.

A host of names have already been linked to the post, with Gianfranco Zola and Roy Keane two high-profile candidates said to be on the club's shortlist, but various reports indicate both men may be set for jobs elsewhere.

Former Manchester United captain and Sunderland boss Keane has been linked with a move to English Championship outfit Millwall, who are considering the future of incumbent manager Kenny Jackett.

Millwall lie just one spot and five points above the relegation zone in England's second tier, having failed to beat bitter rivals West Ham on Saturday despite a man advantage for more than 80 minutes of play.

FourFourTwo Australia, meanwhile, claims former Chelsea striker and West Ham boss Zola wants to remain in Europe and is not short of offers.

The same website has reported highly-rated local coach Phil Stubbins, formerly an assistant at Adelaide United, has left his post at the Australian Institute of Sport for the coaching position at Thai outfit Insee Police FC.
