GOVT WILLING TO CONSIDER BETTER BENEFITS FOR TEACHERS - MUHYIDDIN

KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) -- The government is willing to consider

better benefits for lecturers of institutions of higher learning, said Deputy

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin said hence, he would check on problems faced by lecturers with

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

"I will find out whether this matter involving lecturer salaries and grades

had been submitted to the Public Service Department (PSD). What is PSD response?

I do not know.

"But if this is considered important and should be given consideration, we

believe it will be given due consideration," he said at a dialogue at the

Intellectual Discourse Series organised by the Alumni Association of University

Technologi Mara (UiTM) here, today.

Muhyiddin, who is also education minister, said he was aware of complaints

from lecturers who felt that their benefits were not as good as that of

teachers.
