PUTRAJAYA, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The Film "Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa" was
selected as the best film at the 24th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM 24) held at
the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here tonight.
Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim
presented the trophy and cash prize of RM25,000 to the film director, Yusry
Syamsul Yusof won the best director award for his film "KL Gangster".
Meanwhile, Siti Shahreza or better known as Eja won the best female actress
award for her role in the film "Janin" while Shaheizy Sam won the best male
actor award for his role in the film "Kongsi".
The best supporting actress award went to Faezah Elai, who acted in the film
"Cun" while the best male supporting actor award was won by Sbofi Jikan who
acted in the film "KL Gangster".
In addition, the film "Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa" won the best original
musical score category (Edry Abd Halim), best costume (Rosada Abdul Hamid), best
cinematography (Mohd Noor Mohd Kassim), best art direction (Annuar Paharudin/
Kek Ting Lam).
The film "KL Gangster" also won the box-office film category, best editing
category (Syamsul Yusof/ Hishan Jupri), best sound effect (Hisham Jupri/ Rizal
Ashereff) and best screenplay (Syamsul Yusof).
The film "Libas" won the best original script award while Tan Sri Jins
Shamsuddin received the lifetime achievement award and Datuk Michelle Yeoh
received the outstanding achievement award.
