Honda Malaysia rolls out its 10,000th hybrid

Honda reached a milestone recently when they celebrated their one millionth Honda Hybrid owner globally, a significant achievement since the introduction of the first generation Insight in November 1999 in Japan. Coincidentally, at about the same time, Honda Malaysia also reached a milestone of its own having sold its 10,000th hybrid vehicle since launching the Civic Hybrid back in 2007.

The 10,000th Honda Hybrid in Malaysia belongs to Hitz.FM radio announcer, Tengku Mohd Ean Nasrun or better known as Ean, who purchased the Honda CR-Z Hybrid. He was rewarded with a two-day one-night getaway package for being the lucky owner.

Expressing his happiness on the delivery of his brand new Honda CR-Z, Ean said, "I am excited and proud to know that I am among 10,000 Honda Hybrid owners in Malaysia contributing to a cleaner and greener Malaysia. I was attracted to the sporty looks of the CR-Z, which is combined with eco-friendliness. And the visit to the Honda dealer where I test-drove the car sealed the deal for me. This stylish CR-Z is easy to handle and has heaps of cool features which makes it really fun for everyday driving."

The good acceptance of hybrid vehicles in Malaysia became the catalyst for Honda Malaysia to be the first car manufacturer to assemble hybrid vehicles locally. This is also in line with Honda Motor's direction of providing good products with speed, affordability and low CO2 emissions to maximise the joy of ownership to customers. In conjunction with Honda's global direction, Honda Malaysia is committed to reduce carbon emissions significantly.

Commenting on the overwhelming market acceptance of Honda's Hybrid technology, Mr. Yoichiro Ueno, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd said, "Honda has introduced a total of 4 exciting new models; the Insight, Jazz Hybrid, CR-Z and Civic Hybrid in the Honda Hybrid Family to Malaysians who appreciate the value of advanced green technology. With the launch of the Insight at the end of 2010, Honda has successfully captured 54.4% of the hybrid market share in 2011 and it has increased to 66% as at August 2012. We would like to extend our appreciation to the Malaysian government for the full exemption of its import and excise duty for hybrid models until December 2013.
