How to achieve the perfect eyebrows

Shaping and maintaining your brows can be tedious, but satisfying if done well. Not sure where to start? First, consider your face shape; then look for a celeb whose face shape closely resembles your own. Now follow these simple steps to give yourself some wow brows!

Match your face shape with the right brows
Round brows soften sharp features, which makes them ideal for softening a heart-shaped face with a pointy chin.
Angled brows give a youthful appearance, drawing the eye upwards and slimming down a round face.
Soft angled brows are similar to an angled brow, giving a very feminine look that can also soften a square face.
Curved brows give off a more professional look, and complements an angular diamond shaped face.
Flat brows create a horizontal line which shortens long faces.

If you have an oval face shape, make sure that your brow is well-groomed. You can also play around with any brow shape.

Refer to iconic celeb brows

  • Audrey Hepburn and Brooke Shields are known for their flat brows.

  • Marilyn Monroe had angled brows.

  • Elizabeth Taylor was popular for her soft angled brows with a high arch.

  • Sophia Loren had curved brows.

Prepare to tweeze

Tweezing tools: brow brush, white pencil, stencils for precision, eyebrow pencil or eye shadow, tweezers and brow scissors

Steps:

1. Brush your brow straight up and trim the hairs above your brow line. Be careful not to cut off too much, otherwise you end up with spiky brows.

2. With a white pencil, mark the hairs that you’re aiming to remove. Stand back and analyse the shape before you tweeze. When in doubt, don’t yank it out!

3. Firmly grip your tweezers and tweeze towards the direction of hair growth.

4. Fill in your brows with pencil or powder for depth and/or a more prominent shape. Use with stencil if you are a newbie.
