Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels believes he will be fit to face Werder Bremen on Friday, despite suffering an injury in midweek.
The German international was involved in a collision with Gonzalo Higuain in Argentina's 3-1 win over Die Mannschaft on Wednesday, before being diagnosed with a neck strain.
Hummels was forced to sit out the champions' 3-0 win over Oberneuland in the DFB-Pokal first round, but maintains that he will be involved in the Bundesliga opener.
"I went in [for] a threesome for a header, [and at] first I felt nothing. It was only after three or four minutes later [that I felt it] violently," the defender told the club's official website.
"I'll definitely be fit [for the game against Werder Bremen]."
Jurgen Klopp's men begin their quest for a third consecutive Bundesliga title against Werder on Friday, kick-off at 20:30CET.
