    GEORGE TOWN, May 23 — Police will take action against the group of men who disrupted a candlelight vigil in Esplanade last night that resulted in a scuffle, injuring a reporter and an activist.

JERANTUT, June 27 (Bernama) -- A husband and wife couple and a housewife

were robbed within an hour by four men armed with parang in two separate

incident at Taman Berlian and Taman Bukit Pedah, here early this morning.

In the 8am incident, the victims who lived just a kilometre away from each

other lost about RM65,700 to the robbers.

The first victims, a 55-year-old man and his wife in her 50s lost about

RM35,000 in jewellery and cash, while the second victim, a 24-year-old housewife

lost about RM30,700 in jewellery and cash.

During the robberies, the victims were locked up by the suspects in a room

but later managed to escape and lodge a police report at about 9am.

Jerantut police chief Supt Azid Ismail said the suspects escaped in a white

Toyota Altis.

"Based on the modus operandi of the robbers, we believe the suspects were

also involved in several other robberies in other districts," he said.

Thus, he advised the public to be cautious and urged anyone with information

to contact the Jerantut police station at 09-2662222 or any nearby police

stations.
