KUCHING, July 17 (Bernama) -- The Information Department will not hesitate
to dissolve any 1Malaysia Community (K1M) in Sarawak if they fail to implement
any of their planned activities.
Sarawak Information Department director Resat Salleh said so far they have
identified five inactive K1M in the state.
"However, 139 K1M have shown good performance and generated their own income
to fund activities without assistance from the department or government," he
said at the launch of the Demak Laut K1M, here today, which was officiated by
Sarawak Housing and Urban Development Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun
Openg.
Resat said dissolution would be the department''s last resort, only after
first attempting to revive inactive K1M by replacing the old committees with new
ones.
"Only when they fail to show satisfactory performance will the K1M be
dissolved and replaced with a new one in the same constituency," he said.
