Fashion e-commerce is as endlessly diverse as clothing itself. It means that sites can explore lots of fashionable niches in search of a speciality. Indo-Australian startup Ctaare has found its own as a boutique for exclusive Indian designer-wear for women, men, and children. It’s aimed at shoppers around the world who are interested in the Indian vogue. A bit like so-called designer-to-consumer sites such as Fab, Ctaare connects couturiers with customers around the world, with the option of buying custom-made or ready-to-wear clothing. The Ctaare team tells us that its user-base is mainly non-resident Indians and Southeast Asian people spread across Australia, New Zealand, the US, the UK, and Canada. The startup is targeting all Australians, not just those of Indian origin, with its fashion items, and is also building up its presence among Indian consumers at home by offering free shipping. The Ctaare crew is made up of three staffers in Sydney and seven in Delhi. One of the most important tasks of the Delhi team is to go out and connect with Indian fashion designers and and scout for new talent. In some cases, young designers approach the site with designs aimed at an international audience. Right now the site has some top Indian labels such as Satya Paul and Malini Ramani. There's a mix of Indian- and western-style clothing. The co-founders are three siblings - Adarsh, Chandni, and Anil Mishra - with a mix of backgrounds in art, fashion, marketing, and finance. Currently the site is self-funded by the trio.
