SEPANG, May 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia can emulate Islamic bodies in Indonesia
in their creative development of endowment land despite financial constraints.
Minister in the Prime Minister''s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom
said they used endowment land for schools, universities and hospitals.
"We agree to study how they are able to develop the economy and Muslims in
their spirit of volunteerism despite not being government agencies.
"In fact, religious schools are also funded by Nahdlatul Ulama not in the
form of political parties but as an independent religious body in Indonesia," he
told reporters upon his arrival from Jakarta, Indonesia at the KL International
Airport, here, last night.
Jamil Khir was in Indonesia on a three-day visit to meet Indonesian
Religious Minister Suryadharma Ali, religious bodies and non-government
organisations.
