KUALA LMPUR (Aug 9): The Industrial Production Index (IPI)rose 3.7% to 111.4 in June compared to a year earlier, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia.
In a statement Thursday, the Department said that the rise was due mainly to the increases of the manufacturing and electricity index of 4.8% and 5.9% respectively.
However, the index of mining registered a marginal decrease of 0.3%, it said.
It said the IPI in May 2012 had been revised positive 7.8% year-on-year.
