KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 ― MCA Youth today warned the Chinese against letting Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lead Malaysia back to the “dark ages” via PAS’s Islamic state agenda, rehashing a strategy from the party’s political playbook to woo the community back into Barisan Nasional’s (BN) fold.

MCA Youth chief Datuk Wee Ka Siong said there were “hidden traps” within PR’s call for change, pointing out that the pact’s Islamist component party PAS was still insistent on creating an Islamic state or a “theocracy”.

He added that the DAP, despite rejecting such a concept, was now ready to sacrifice its own ideologies to co-operate with PAS in its quest for power.

“I ask: Where is DAP’s integrity? Where are their principles?” Wee said in his opening address at MCA Youth’s 48th annual general meeting (AGM) in Wisma MCA this morning.

He took a direct swipe at DAP chairman Karpal Singh, who has been vocal in his rejection of the Islamic state, saying that MCA Youth “pities” the veteran politician.

“He (Karpal) sits without any power, betrayed by Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng,” Wee said, referring to the father-and-son team in the DAP.
