Bolton legend Ivan Campo has urged the Trotters' chairman Phil Gartside to consider him as a potential replacement for recently sacked boss Owen Coyle.

Coyle was fired after overseeing more league defeats than wins since being relegated to the Championship, with the side just a couple of places above the relegation zone.

But Campo, who spent six years at the Reebok Stadium after signing from Real Madrid, has taken to Twitter to plead his case to take over from Coyle and rescue the Trotters.

Campo stated: "After to know what its happening in the BOLTON FAMILY I want to say that of corse I would like to help the club.

"I love very special moment in my life. Big SAM. Nolan. Davo. JJ Okocha. Jussy , Djorksef, Hierro…… And all FANS OF BWCG. My Family.

"Only I need to receive a call OF PHIL GARTSIDE and I will GO to BOLTON IMMEDITALY TO HELP TO THE CLUB WITH MY EXPERIENCE.

"Ok. I would try to speak WITH PHIL GARTSIDE And after meeting the fans will know of I will GO again to Bolton or NOT."

Gartside has already began the process of finding a new manager, with Mick McCarthy, Roy Keane and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the leading candidates before Campo threw his hat in the ring.
