JAKIM MONITORS BLOGS ATTEMPTING TO TURN MUSLIMS INTO APOSTATES

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- The Islamic Development Department (Jakim)

will continue to work with the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission

(MCMC) to identify and take action against blogs which attempt to turn Muslims

    into apostates.

Jakim Director-General Datuk Othman Mustapha said the department viewed

seriously action by such bloggers to deviate Muslims from the true teachings of

Islam and were identifying the blogs concerned.

"We will continue to monitor information on Islam posted by the new media,"

he said in a statement here today.

He said the department had identified several blogs attempting to turn

Muslims into apostates and had submitted the list to MCMC to block their sites.

However, when MCMC blocked their sites, they open new blogs with different

    addresses, he added.
