Japan's GREE, DeNA Monetize Far Better Than Zynga [Report]

Thanks to Serkan Toto on Twitter for pointing out this piece by The Wall Street Journal on Japanese mobile social gaming companies GREE (TYO:3632) and DeNA (TYO:2432). I encourage you to click over and read it for yourself, but here’s a key takeaway from the piece that shows how well these companies are doing in contrast to a certain Western counterpart:

Gree generates $11.21 for every user who plays one of its games at least once a month, according to Macquarie Securities. The firm estimates that DeNA books $6.50 per month from its regular users. Zynga has 292 million regular users but generates just 33 cents per month from each.
