Jerome Boateng hopes Takashi Usami will stay at Bayern Munich

    EXCLUSIVE
    By Maximilian Bensinger

Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has voiced his admiration of Japanese youngster Takashi Usami, and hopes that the attacker will stay at the Bundesliga giants beyond the 2011-12 campaign.

Usami joined Bayern from Gamba Osaka on a one-year loan deal at the start of the season, and the Bavarians have an option to make the move permanent this summer.

A recent report suggested that FCB have no intention to exercise their option to buy Usami, but Boateng is hopeful that the 19-year-old will stay at the club after all.

"He [Usami] is a great guy and a good player," he told Goal.com. "It would really please me if he stays at Bayern."

The versatile defender then reflected on his side's 2-0 Bundesliga win over Kaiserslautern on Saturday, and was quite pleased with the final result.

"We are content that we kept another clean sheet. We did not relax after the break. We got a number of chances to score more, and could have done better with those."

Bayern sit second in the Bundesliga table at the moment, trailing table-toppers Borussia Dortmund by two points.
