Jet Li's One Foundation denies embezzlement

2 Sep – Jet Li's One Foundation has recently dismissed another allegation of embezzlement, and threatened to sue irresponsible parties responsible for spreading the defamatory reports, Mingpao News reported.

Previously, several media networks broke the news that a lot of loopholes were found in the management of the charity organisation, and alleged that there were flows of funds overseas instead of going to the supposed recipients.

However, on 1 September, Jet Li issued a lawyer letter on his micro-blog, and stressed that the reports were untrue and a malicious defamation towards his foundation and his own image.

The statement also read that in accordance to relevant laws related to the media or individuals fabrication of facts, the reports are a serious violation of honour and that Jet's camp will have no problem taking the issue to court.

Hence, the actor's legal representative urged the media publishing the false information to immediately remove all the reports and the links, as well as all other effective way to stop the false news from spreading. They were also asked to make a public apology towards the actor and the foundation.

This is not the first time One Foundation was alleged to have embezzled donated funds. Back in April, a Weibo post by m4.cn raised questions about Li's handling of RMB 300 million in donations intended for the victims of last year's Ya'an earthquake. The actor, however, dismissed the reports with a jest.
