Jiang Wen hopes "Gone with the Bullets" does well

15 Jan – Chinese director Jiang Wen was extremely delighted with "Gone with the Bullets" entering the Golden Bear competition at the upcoming 65th Berlin International Film Festival, saying that Berlin is a good place to start.

According to Mingpao News, the director, who attended the film's Hong Kong premiere on 14 January, stated that he will absolutely attend the festival, though he has no confidence about winning an award for himself.

"I have always been confident, and some people said that it is borderline narcissistic. I don't know about the judges' opinion, though. I hope that the movie will have a good outcome, though I am fine with no award," said the director.

When asked to choose which actor of his will have the possibility to win an award, Jiang replied, "Ge You, Shu Qi, Wen Zhang, and the others will all have the opportunity."

In related news, lead actress Shu Qi said that she will not be able to attend the festival due to an earlier arranged vacation plan to Southeast Asia.

"Since I am going with a group of friends and this is the first big holiday after working for ten years, it probably cannot be postponed," said the actress.

When asked if rumoured boyfriend Stephen Fung will join the trip, she only replied, "I will be with a group of friends."
