It seems that John Terry just can't stop grabbing the headlines at the moment, his actions both on and off the pitch in recent months have culminated in William Hill slashing the price on him missing out on England's 23-man squad for Euro 2012 to 4/9 (1.44).

The 31-year-old's odds of making the squad have been pushed out several times in the last few weeks following interest from those backing him not to travel, punters can now able to back him at 13/8 (2.63) to play a part in Poland and Ukraine.

A string of disappointing performances, especially in the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, mean the former England captain could miss out on representing the Three Lions, and he did not help himself with his display against Liverpool in the Premier League recently.

A torrid first half saw Terry booked, out of position and beaten for pace on several occasions by the Liverpool front line as the Reds went on to triumph 4-1 to leave Chelsea's chances of playing in next season's Champions League resting solely on victory against Bayern Munich. Terry will miss that game, of course, due to his suspension.

New England boss Roy Hodgson will have several selection headaches on his hands this summer, none more so than the centre-back partnership. Graeme Sharpe from William Hill commented 'There will always be speculation about whether an incoming manager will look to make his mark by including or excluding a significant personality in his first squad and this is no different".

Terry is scheduled to appear in court after the European Championship, charged with racially abusing Anton Ferdinand - a charge he strenuously denies.

But the potential selection of Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand, brother of Anton, together with impressive recent displays from Manchester City's Jolean Lescott and Terry's Chelsea team-mate Gary Cahill, that mean the 4/9 (1.44) available from William Hill on him not to make the cut seems fair. But does such a short price offer value for one of England's most experienced players not to travel?

There are questions over Rio Ferdinand's fitness, although the 33-year-old has played much of the second half of Manchester United's season, can Hodgson overlook Terry, who has over 70 caps for his country in order to accommodate Ferdinand purely on the back of issues off the field?

Without a doubt there are capable replacements for Terry's place but at 13/8 (2.63) with William Hill, those hunting the value may be more inclined to back the Chelsea captain to be in the reckoning when the squad is announced, rather than out of it.
