ALOR SETAR, May 14 (Bernama) -- The Alor Setar Tower and the Malaysian
Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) invite members of the public to
the ''Jom Pi Menara Alor Setar'' (Let''s Go To The Alor Setar Tower) programme, in
conjunction with state-level World Telecommunications Day 2012 celebrations,
from Thursday to Saturday.
Alor Setar Tower general manager Haryati Tahir said this year''s theme, Women
and Girls in ICT, was aimed to create consumer awareness on the importance and
development of telecommunications as well as foster closer ties with telco
companies and users.
"We have various activities planned such as an online business course,
Explorace, True Love From Menara photography, a treasure hunt and performances
from artistes," she said at a news conference here today, adding that entrance
tickets to the tower would be sold at half-price for participants.
She said the programme was scheduled to be officiated by Kedah Umno Liaison
Committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah on Saturday, followed by a
feast for the community at 11am, estimated to involve 3,000 people.
Haryati added that traders interested in setting up booths during the event
