Giorgos Karagounis has stated that Greece's preparations for Euro 2012 are running smoothly, but warned they must not be fazed by the competition that awaits them in Poland and Ukraine.

The Greeks comfortably progressed through the qualifying stages to take part in this summer's tournament for a third consecutive occasion, where they have been drawn with the Poles, Russia and Czech Republic in Group A.

Karagounis, who plies his trade for Panathinaikos, believes the squad is looking good ahead of their opening match against the co-hosts.

"All the players are in good form," said the Greece captain at a press conference. "Personally speaking, it's good for me to play the full 90 minutes [in the friendly against Slovenia].

"All we have to work on now are our tactics. We must play without pressure.

"Let's not forget that we have succeeded in our biggest goal, which was to be in the finals for a third time in a row," he explained.

"I believe in the team and I can't wait for the games to come."

Werder Bremen defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos also spoke of his confidence in Greece's ability to kick off their European Championship campaign in style by beating Poland at the National Stadium in Warsaw on June 8.

"We have all watched some of their games. They are a very good team. However, if we are in good shape, and that's something we really hope for, then we will surely win the game."
