JERANTUT, July 20 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today announced an
allocation of RM60 million to repair 12,000 houses neighbouring Felda
settlements under the ''Kasih Felda'' programme.
The prime minister said in the first phase of the programme this year, 4,000
houses would be repaired, involving an allocation of RM20 million.
He said this after launching the programme here today.
The ''Kasih Felda'' programme involves old and traditional villages located
near the 317 Felda settlements nationwide.
Under the programme, each eligible family will receive RM5,000 to repair
their homes.
Earlier, Najib also visited several houses which had been identified to
receive the aid, including the one belonging to Kamarun Helan Jaafar Sidek, 49,
in Kampung Air Hitam, Pasir Sia near here.

During his visit, the prime minister also presented the family with packs of
cement, bricks, sand and roof tiles worth RM5,000 that would enable Kamarun
Helan to repair his kitchen area.
Najib also paid a visit to Kamarun Helan''s wife, Asmawati Che Wok, 39, who
had just given birth to her sixth child before proceeding to present a similar
aid to Osman a/l Nai, 30 in Kampung Orang Asli Batu 10 here.
