Kate Beckinsale hopes her daughter will share her values.

The actress has 13-year-old Lily with her former partner Michael Sheen.

While Kate isn’t encouraging her daughter to follow in her Hollywood footsteps, she hopes the teenager will take after her in other ways.

“I think being compared to your mother is probably a horrific idea, but I hope she’ll have similar values. I didn’t end up with a drug problem, and I managed to not be pregnant until I was in my early-ish 20s. I wouldn’t have minded waiting longer than that - it was a surprise to me, so it might have been nice to have it a bit more planned out,” she told UK magazine Closer.

Los Angeles-based Kate also admits she still gets homesick.

The British beauty has revealed a fun present she received to beat homesickness.

“My best friend gave me a doormat which said: ‘Nice to see you, to see you nice’ [a catchphrase from UK TV presenter Bruce Forsyth]. Americans think, ‘Oh yes, yes.’ But when my British friends come over they all say: ‘Oh what a great mat!’”
