KDN SEIZES PIRATED DVDS WORTH RM200,000 IN RAID

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 (Bernama) - The Home Ministry (KDN) seized 10,000

pirated DVDs of Tamil movies and 3,000 pornographic DVDs worth RM200,000 in a

raid on a premise in Jalan Tun Sambathan, here today.

Federal Territory Film Censorship and Enforcement Division chief Omar Mohd

Bahari said the premise which operated since two years ago had been raided

    several times before.

"We found a small hole believed used to store DVDs on the second floor of

the building using rented rooms as cover," he told reporters.

The officers had to break the wall of a small store that was hidden behind a

place of worship to put off authorities.

The premise was used as location to pack the pirated DVDs before distributed

    to the surrounding areas.

Omar said the raid was made after gathering information from the public over

    the last two weeks.

"KDN will carry out further investigation to identify suppliers of the

pornographic DVDs as the owner of the premise escaped the raid," he added.

The raid under Film Censorship Act 2002 provides for fine not less than

RM5,000-RM30,000 for movie DVDs and fine of RM10,000-RM50,000 or not more than
