KOTA BAHARU, May 9 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan Immigration Enforcement
Division held 19 Thai women in a raid on a restaurant, which operated a karaoke
center in Gua Musang here, last night.
Head of its Enforcement Division, Abdul Basek Abu Bakar said the raid was
carried out at around 11.30pm, when around 70 patrons, most of them locals, were
enjoying the entertainment and alcohol being served.
"We conducted a search and found 19 Thai females who were serving the
patrons present there," he told reporters when interviewed at his office here,
today.
According to Abdul Basek, prior to that, his officers had received
information from many people regarding the activities of a restaurant which used
foreign women to serve customers at its karaoke center.
He said an initial inspection revealed, that all the Thai women aged between
18 and 44 possessed valid travel documents.

"We brought them to the Enforcement Office here for further investigation
and have held them temporarily at the Tanah Merah Immigration Detention Depot
prior to further action which includes repatriating them to their country of
origin," he said.
He also mentioned that throughout the operation held earlier from 11 April
to 6 May, as many as 1,101 foreign nationals were inspected in Kelantan, of whom
144 were detained because of various Immigration related offences.
He said that a portion of the cases investigated had been completed while
the rest were still in process of investigation.
