Kelly Rowland says women should love something about themselves – even if it’s just a “strand of hair”.

The former Destiny’s Child singer believes everyone must learn to embrace their bodies. Kelly insists we all have something special about our appearance that we can be proud to flaunt.

“We only get one body in our lifetime, you have to love something that God has given you,” she told UK TV show Daybreak at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London last night. “Whether it’s your eyes, your lips, your mole or it’s a strand of hair.”

The 31-year-old star revealed that she prefers to spend time with positive people.

Kelly - who has remained close to her bandmates Beyoncé Knowles and Michelle Williams - believes it is important to have friends who will help boost your self-esteem, rather than point out your flaws.

“Surround yourself with other women who uplift you and make you feel good about yourself as well. I did that!” she smiled.

Kelly was named TV Personality of the Year at the Glamour magazine awards ceremony.

Eva Longoria also attended the glitzy event, and took home the Inspiration of the Year prize.

The Desperate Housewives actress also believes in promoting a positive body image.

She wants magazines to realise the impact they have on their reader.

“There is a lot to be said about how women think about their bodies and how we take care of them,” she said. “I think we have to really think about the messages that magazines convey and the power of those messages.”
