Kermit the Frog is on a “guys’ holiday” in London.
The famous amphibian stopped by a UK TV studio this morning to promote the DVD release of 2011 movie The Muppets and revealed he was enjoying some time away from his partner Miss Piggy.
Accompanied by fellow Muppet Pepino Rodrigo Serrano Gonzales, a king prawn, the star said they were enjoying their trip to the UK but had missed the recent Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.
“Well, I don’t know actually,” he told TV show Daybreak when asked how Miss Piggy is doing. “Like I said, we’re just a couple of guys in London. We’re just here on a little holiday… away from the pigs. We thought we’d drop in between the Jubilee and the Olympics to avoid the crowds.”
Kermit also explained why he believes the Muppets are still as popular as ever despite having been in the entertainment industry for almost 40 years.
The movie star said that he and the rest of the cast always try to keep it real.
However, Pepino revealed his own theory about why fans can’t get enough of the showbiz icons.
“Why, I have no idea,” Kermit said humbly when asked about their on-going success. “I’m glad, but we Muppets just stay true to ourselves as best as we can.”
“I think it’s your eyeballs. People love the eyeballs,” Pepino interjected.
