BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 10 (Bernama) -- Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul
Halim Mu''adzam Shah said Malaysia and Brunei can improve cooperation in highly
potential sectors, including agriculture, information technology, Islamic
banking and infrastructure.
The King who is on a three-day visit to Brunei with Raja Permaisuri Agong
Tuanku Hajah Haminah said trade relationship between Malaysia and Brunei had
seen a 13.7 percent growth last year, compared with the previous year.
There is every prospect that the figure can increase further in the
years to come through various initiatives undertaken by both countries
continuously for the benefit of both countries, said Tuanku Abdul Halim at the
Royal dinner hosted for the royal couple at Istana Darul Hana here today.
Also present were the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, members of
the royal family and other dignitaries.
Tuanku Abdul Halim said the improvement in Malaysia''s economy had opened
various investment opportunities that can enhance the value of the Economic
Transformation Programme.

"I sincerely welcome Brunei''s desire to increase its investment in
Malaysia," he said, urging Malaysian companies to work closely with their
counterparts in Brunei to enhance the economy.
Tuanku Abdul Halim was also happy with the role played by Malaysia and
Brunei to resolve regional and international issues.
He urged both countries to continue their efforts to uphold Islam and the
unity of Muslim countries.
