KL POLICE TO INCREASE MONITORING OF HOT SPOTS DURING AIDILFITRI

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- Kuala Lumpur police will closely

monitor 15 hot spots during the Aidilfitri celebration from next week in

preparation to prevent an increase in crime.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said 11 hot spots around the

capital were highlighted in Aug 2009 and four more surfaced early last year

following increases in crime in the areas.

"The monitoring of the hot spots are carried out all the time, not just

during festive seasons. but they will be monitored more closely during the

festive season," he told reporters at the launching of a crime prevention

campaign in conjunction with Aidilfitri, at Jalan Masjid India, here, today.

He said, the 15 areas involved were in Cheras (five), Sentul

(four), Brickfields (three) and Dang Wangi (three).
