KUALA TERENGGANU, April 20 (Bernama) -- The construction of the Pilgrims
Fund Management Board (Tabung Haji) complex in Mukim Kuala Nerus here is
expected to be completed on schedule.
The board''s senior general manager for corporate finance and services, Mohd
Hisham Harun said work on the complex costing RM70.3 million had already begun
with five per cent done.
"The board''s operation at the complex is expected to begin in July next
year," he told reporters at the handing over of zakat (tithe) collection by the
board to the Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (Maidam),
Tabung Haji obtained approval in June 1995 to build the complex on a 3.2ha
piece of land near the Sultan Mahmud Airport. The project is being developed by
TH Properties Sdn Bhd, its wholly-owned subsidiary.
Mohd Hisham said building the complex was another move by Tabung Haji to
improve its services to pilgrims, particularly those from Terengganu, Pahang and

He said the complex would have a hotel with 182 rooms, a multipurpose
banquet hall, swimming pools for men and women as well as other facilities.
The complex was specially designed for use during the Haj season with a
special arrival hall, registration and Immigration counters, baggage inspection
area and a departure hall, he said.
There will also be a conference hall which can accommodate up to 1,000
Mohd Hisham said the complex would be used for the Haj flight operations
directly to Jeddah and Medina without having to go through the Kuala
Lumpur International Airport.
At the ceremony, Tabung Haji presented on behalf of its depositors in
Terengganu, tithe payment of RM2,931,925.89 and RM150,000 from its
subsidiary, TH Travel & Services Sdn Bhd, to Tengku Sri Bendahara Raja, Tengku
Mustafa Kamel Sultan Mahmud who represented Maidam.
