21 May – It was reported that the culprit who blackmailed Lee Byung-Hun back in 2009 was finally arrested.
As reported on Korean JoongAng Daily, on 17 May, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office revealed that they have indicted the Mafioso who conspired with Lee's ex-girlfriend to blackmail the "G.I. Joe" star. It was after thorough investigation that the police have finally tracked down the suspect, who is the head of a gang based in Seoul and has had trouble with the law in the past.
In 2009, Lee's ex, a Korean-Canadian gymnast, sought the help of a gangster surnamed Jang to help her threaten the actor with a medical record that showed that she had an abortion.
However, Lee was not the only one who received threats. Jang also threatened the actor's uncle, the head of his entertainment agency and his manager.
