London 2012: new opening and closing ceremony tickets on sale Friday

With 50 days to go before the start of the London Olympics, a new allotment of 43,000 tickets for the opening and closing ceremonies as well as other events will be made available to UK and European residents on Friday, June 8 at 11 am (London time) via the site Tickets.london2012.com. Additional tickets going on sale concern athletics, swimming, football (soccer), volleyball, table tennis and boxing competitions.

To get a spot at the opening or closing ceremony or one of the sporting events, would-be attendees will have to be fast. The 43,000 tickets will be attributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those hoping to buy tickets should follow the instructions at Tickets.london2012.com. Ticket prices for the opening and closing ceremonies start at £995 (about €1,230), while sporting event spots range from £20 to £720 (€25-€890).

To date, more than eight million tickets for the 2012 Games have been sold.
