MELBOURNE, May 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Australia will seal a free trade
agreement on Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur.
This was disclosed by the Victorian State president of the Australian
Malaysian Business Council (AMBC), Mike Anderson, at a networking event held at
the Malaysian-owned multi-million Setia residential and shopping complex in
Fulton Lane here last night.
He said Malaysia''s International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri
Mustapa Mohamed and his Australian counterpart Dr Craig Emerson will sign the
agreement at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Anderson, who is flying to Malaysia to witness the signing, said the
proposed agreement was a long time in the making and it would open doors in
trade liberalisation between the two countries.
Professionals in areas such as banking and finance, law, architecture and
insurance would gain access to lucrative markets, he said.
Also at the signing will be the AMBC national president Larry Gould, who had
worked closely with the Australian trade officials over the free trade
agreement.
