Malaysians take to Twitter as Germany crush Brazil in World Cup semis

Twitterjaya was buzzing as Malaysians joined scores of fans across the globe, tweeting their thoughts on Germany’s 7-1 destruction of Brazil at the World Cup semi-finals this morning.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin expressed sympathy for Brazil, tweeting: "They have to stop this game now. No country deserves this.

"OK, this cruel. Brazil don't deserve this.

"The psychological scar on a nation that struggled to even host this World Cup will be felt for many years."

Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said: "This is not the first time I went through this excruciating pain watching a champion beaten senseless."

Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching tweeted: "Goal goal Germany goal!".

Singer Datuk Siti Nurhaliza urged the Germans to get goal number eight: "Alang2 bagi no cantik terusla Jerman .. 8!"(Might as well make it nice number Germany...8!)

Model Daphne Iking tweeted: "Woke up for sahoor and found out the Germans are whooping the Brazilians."

Ashraf Ariff tweeted: "Brazil are making England look good."

British newspaper The Independent reported that the first 45 minutes was one of the most shocking halves football has ever witnessed.

Belgium striker Romalu Lukaku, who is contracted to English Premier League team Chelsea, tweeted: "Oooh myyyy goood".

West Ham striker Andy Carroll said: "This is the kind of lesson I give to Ravel earlier! 5-0 30 mins in!!!"

Former Liverpool and United States goalkeeper Brad Friedel tweeted: "I know a lot of people thought Germany but did anyone think it would be like this?"

"Another reason why this has been the best WC in history."

Arsenal and England striker Theo Walcott tweeted: "Speechless!!!!"

Respected football pundit and former England striker Gary Lineker tweeted: "Our stats man has spontaneously self-combusted!"

The match this morning, which kicked off at 4am Malaysian time, saw Germany scoring five goals before 30 minutes had been played.

A comprehensive demolition was completed with goals from Thomas Mueller, Miroslav Klose, Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos (2), Andre Schurrle (2) with Oscar getting a consolation for the Brazilians. – July 9, 2014.
