Consultative Council (Mapim) will urge the Myanmar government to allow
humanitarian missions around the world, especially from Asean countries, to help
Rohingya in Myanmar.
Mapim secretary-general Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid said they would meet Myanmar
President Thein Sein and National League for Democracy (NLD) leader Aung San Suu
Kyi to discuss the matter on Aug 1.
"Non-governmental organisations from Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia,
Indonesia and Cambodia will go to Yangon to meet the Myanmar President and Aung
San (Suu Kyi) on next Wednesday," he told reporters, here today.
He said Mapim also would ask The United Nations to negotiate with Bangladesh
so that the food aid mission could be sent by sea to Myanmar.
