    MAS CONTINUES SUPPORT FOR LTDL, SPONSORS 'WHITE JERSEY'

    KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAS) once again

    became the sponsor of the White jersey for the Best Asian Rider category of the

    country''s renowned cycling event, Le Tour de Langkawi 2012.

    Having just won the ''World''s Leading Airline to Asia'' award, MAS Regional

    Senior Vice President Sales Malaysia Azman Ahmad said it made a good business

    sense to be the sponsor for the Asian Champion jersey, the overall leading rider

    among Asian participants at the tournament.

    "It is also a privilege for MAS to be associated with LTdL, an annual

    cycling event that attracts top professional teams from around the world,"

    he said in a statement here today.

    He said MAS also wished to take their brand to greater heights through the

    continuation of their partnership with LTdL.

    "We are pleased to be part of this strategic collaboration and partnership

    with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the organiser of the LTdL 2012.

    "Sports sponsorship is one of the best branding investment and we aim to

    leverage on this imitative to position our brand growth presence against the

    front-end and corporate air travel market," said Azman.

    LTdL, to be held from Feb 24 to March 4, will see 22 professionals teams,

    including two from Malaysia, namely the national squad and the Terengganu

    Pro-Asia Cycling Team (TSG).

    The 10-day race will involve an overall distance of 1,414.8km with the

    first stage being an individual time trial held over a distance of 20.3km

    in Putrajaya while the last stage will be staged in Kuala Terengganu.
