Cristiano Ronaldo has sent out a warning to his competitors at Euro 2012 by claiming Portugal are "mature" and "ready for the fight".

Ronaldo, whose 79th minute header secured a 1-0 win for Portugal in their quarter-final encounter with the Czech Republic, hailed the maturity of the team, and has set his sights on reaching the final.

"I think we played very well and created many chances," he told the BBC.

"We know it's going to be difficult next game but we are ready, we are confident, the team is very mature so we are ready for the fight.

"I felt a big joy. We were worthy winners, we played better. In the last two matches, we hit the post twice, now we did it again... But the most important thing is the ambition and spirit in our squad. I scored one more goal and I am happy for that.

"Our path has been very difficult. We have gone through one more stage. Let's see who we will face in the semi-finals. We have big hopes, but we must keep our feet on the ground and take one step at a time. We want to win our next match. Our goal is to reach the final.

"The most important that I score, the team win, the team play very, very very good and we are in the semi-finals so the team is very happy for that."

Ronaldo and Portgual will now face the winner of the Spain-France quarter-final in the last four of the competition.
