KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd recorded a 6.12% increase in net profit for its first quarter (1Q) ended Mar 31 to RM572 million from RM539 million a year ago, due to increased revenue in all its divisions.
In a statement on Thursday, the group said its revenue rose 4.69% to RM2.23 billion from RM2.13 billion. Earnings per share were 7.60 sen compared to 7.20 sen a year earlier. Maxis declared an interim dividend of 8 sen per share, to be paid on June 29.
Reviewing its performance, Maxis said aggressive marketing and promotional programmes would continue to put pressure on tariffs and operating margins, rendering the telecommunications industry to remain competitive and challenging.
