MELAKA, 21 Sept (Bernama) -- Kerajaan negeri Melaka bercadang membina lima

pintu air bagi mengatasi masalah banjir kilat khususnya di Melaka Tengah.

Ketua Menteri Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam berkata lokasi yang

dikenal pasti bagi pembinaan pintu air tersebut ialah di kawasan Sungai Melaka

berhampiran Kampung Pengkalan Rama Pantai dan Pasaraya Tesco selain Kampung

Enam, Kampung Lapan dan Tengkera.

"Penduduk tidak perlu lagi bimbang dengan masalah banjir kilat yang

sering kali terjadi, selepas adanya pintu air ini nanti," katanya kepada

pemberita selepas meninjau Kampung Air di Bukit Palah yang dilanda banjir kilat

semalam.

Seramai 61 keluarga yang terlibat dalam banjir kilat tersebut menerima

bantuan wang tunai masing-masing berjumlah RM200 daripada kerajaan negeri bagi

meringankan beban mereka.

Mohd Ali bagaimanapun berkata pihaknya memerlukan peruntukan sepenuhnya yang

telah diluluskan kerajaan persekutuan berjumlah RM128 juta bagi mengatasi

masalah banjir di seluruh Melaka.

"Kita telah menerima RM40 juta dan telah menggunakannya bagi tujuan

mengatasi masalah banjir tetapi kita masih memerlukan RM88 juta lagi daripada

peruntukan yang diluluskan itu," katanya.
