KUALA LUMPUR, 5 Jun — Menteri Kesihatan Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai hari ini berkata beliau sendiri tidak pasti siapa yang membayar sejumlah RM24,200 bagi pendaftaran “WWW 15” yang dimenanginya dalam bidaan baru-baru ini yang menimbulkan kontroversi kenapa beliau membidanya untuk kereta rasmi beliau.

Apabila disoal hari ini oleh pemberita siapa yang membuat pembayaran tersebut, timbalan presiden MCA itu mengesahkan Kementerian Kesihatan tidak membayar untuk nombor tersebut.

Namun bila didesak, beliau teragak-agak untuk menjawab sebelum berkata “tidak pasti, saya perlu semak semula.”

Presiden MCA Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, yang turut hadir ketika sidang media di Ibu Pejabat MCA itu, dilihat cuba membantu Liow mengatakan “duit itu datang dari tangan kiri, ke kanan.”

“Bila saya membidanya, saya tidak memikirkan kos tersebut,” kata Liow (gambar).

Beliau turut mempertahankan dirinya dengan berkata “proses (bidaan) diuruskan JPJ” dan bidaan itu dibuat kerana perubahan kereta rasminya.

Beliau berkata, “semua menteri perlu ada satu nombor (plat), saya tidak merasakan pilihan itu pada mulanya.”

Beliau menambah “nombor itu tidak penting, apa yang utama adalah servis kepada rakyat.”

Pada 28 Mei, JPJ telah mengumumkan Sultan Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ismail Sultan Iskandar, menewaskan bidaan hampir 10,000 pembida untuk WWW 1 dengan bidaan bernilai RM520,000.

Turut didedahkan Liow telah memenangi bidaan tersebut untuk “WWW 15”.
