Meryl Streep is “attached” to her wrinkles, after finding them when she was just ten.
The actress is happy to grow old naturally. At 62, Meryl has become quite accustomed to the lines on her face.
The star first spotted them in her youth, and has grown to love them since.
"Maybe because, as a child, I was already old,” she told Marie Claire France about being happy in her 60s.
“I can see myself at ten, looking at me in a mirror pressing my face between my hands and counting 11 wrinkles. I still have these wrinkles, a little bit more marked: I'm attached to each of them... I always loved ladies of a certain age."
Meryl is currently garnering rave reviews for her turn as former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.
She believes she shares a few characteristics with the notorious politician.
“I have her passion for working and the fact that I’m also a public personality. The contradictions of the strong and authoritative women are those which resonate the most in me,” she explained.
Meryl has been nominated for an Oscar for her performance in the drama. Despite being one of the most successful actresses of her generation, the star admits that attending awards ceremonies is still as thrilling as ever.
"I might seem pathetic but, yes,” she replied when asked if the Oscars ceremony is still important to her.
“The first time I went at the Academy Awards, in 1979, I was seated by Gregory Peck. Behind me was Bette Davis, my role model. It was the kind of moment you never forget."
