Michelin grows its one-star club for Belgium and Luxembourg

Eleven restaurants in Belgium and Luxembourg have been awarded their first Michelin star in the 2015 edition of the red book.

While the three and two-starred club remain unchanged this year, inspectors gave 10 restaurants in Belgium and one restaurant in Luxembourg their first star.

In the Brussels region, Le Pigeon Noir was recognized for serving simple but original traditional cuisine, while Le Monde est Petit was singled out for using exotic ingredients in local specialties.

Da Mimmo, an authentic Italian restaurant, was also given its first star.

Inspectors noted that “ingredient-focused cuisine” has become increasingly popular in the region’s gastronomic landscape.

La Cristallerie at the luxurious Le Place d’Armes hotel in the city of Luxembourg also received its first star for its traditional and refined cuisine.

The 59th edition of the Michelin Guide Belgium and Luxembourg hits newsstands November 27 for €21.95.
