KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Institute of Directors (MID)
today paid special tribute to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for
his transformational leadership of the country by honouring him with the title
''Bapa Transformasi Malaysia''.
The Prime Minister was also inducted as Honorary Fellow of MID at the
Corporate Leaders'' Banquet 2011 here tonight which allows him to join an elite
group of MID Fellows that include former Prime Ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad
and Tun Abdullah Badawi.
The Honorary Fellow was presented by MID President Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing.
Najib was recognized for the national re-engineering he had put in place
through the Economic Transformation Plan (ETP) and the Government Transformation
Programme (GTP) to transform Malaysia into a high-value and high-income nation
by 2020.
The MID paid tribute to the Prime Minister for his innovative leadership
that inspires best practices in corporate governance to achieve transformation
using innovation as the driving force to reach new global status.
Top corporate captains - leading some of the country''s most dynamic
companies - were also honoured at the event for their innovative business
endeavours globally.
Seventeen companies which comprising a variety of sectors that ranged from
airlines, automotive, banking and finance, diversified ventures, education and
healthcare received their Innovative Leadership in Globalization awards from the
Prime Minister.
