KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 17): MNC Wireless Bhd’s associate IntJoors Sverige AB (Joors) has launched the “Joors”, which it touts as the world’s first “free” high speed mobile internet service in Sweden as it would only requires a one-time registration fee.
MNC said on Tuesday it designed and developed the enabling technology and technical platforms for this service while TeliaSonera Mobile Networks AB’s provided the mobile broadband network on a wholesale basis.
Essentially, Joors does away with the monthly fees or lengthy contract subscription periods. Users only need to pay a one-time start-up fee for registration and they will be provided with free internet access, for normal usage, for every 30 days at a speed up to 10 Mbps.
MNC said Joors suited users to surf the web, check their emails, upload pictures and even download a short movie. For more data capacity, they could purchase extra data.
MNC chief executive officer Chung Jaan Hao said it took a little more than a year to bring the idea and concept of Joors to reality.
“We are extremely excited to be the world’s first to offer an ad-supported mobile broadband service in one of the most advanced telecommunications market.
“The concept of Joors is unique in the way that it creates a highly effective platform for digital ad targeting and interaction, while providing consumers with a very valuable commodity which is mobile internet access.”
Joors mobile broadband was supported by advertising revenue from advertisers. As a digital media channel, it was able to deliver advertisements in multiple interactive audio and visual formats, while providing a platform for advertisers to devise creative campaigns that can attract and engage with their customers more effectively compared to other online and traditional media channels.
Chung said that Joors as a digital media channel enabled advertisers to target a wide and yet very specific audience, where it no longer matters which website, search engine or social networking service that the target audience is using.
